The Dentistry Department at AAERC is run by Dr. Kirsten Hailstone, Resident in Small Animal Dentistry. Dentistry is the branch of Veterinary Medicine that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the diseases of the teeth, gums and other structures of the mouth
Dental hygiene and health for your dog or cat are just as important to their overall health and quality of life as it is to yours. Just like with our own teeth, dentistry is all about prevention.
Dr. Kirsten and her specially trained nursing staff deliver a variety of both preventative and corrective procedures, including dental radiography, repair of fractured teeth, root canal therapy, placement of dental crowns and implants, facial fracture repair, and advanced extractions with the use of biosynthetic bone grafts.
If you would like to make an appointment to see Dr. Hailstone for a dental assessment or procedure, you do not require an appointment from your regular Veterinarian. Simply contact AAERC during business hours, and our friendly staff can make a time that suits you. Dr. Hailstone will discuss with you any tests required and will advise you of any procedures that she recommends.
All costs will be discussed with you, and you will be kept fully informed of your pet’s progress throughout the process. Our Dentistry Department has access to state of the art dental radiography, specialised dental implant materials and equipment, and advanced anesthesia and monitoring equipment to give your pet the highest standard of care such as you would wish for your own dental health.
The Dentistry Department accepts referrals for a variety of dental conditions, including:
- Full dental assessments
- Root canal procedures
- Tooth capping
- Tooth Extractions
- Dental crowns and implants
- Jaw and facial fracture repair
