The Cardiology Department at AAERC is staffed with a Cardiorespiratory Specialist who visits AAERC once every month to see patients referred to him from their regular Veterinarian. Dr Richard Woolley sees pets with heart or lung disease, and performs screening for breed related heart conditions. Dr Woolley is able to perform cardiac surgery including pacemaker insertion, balloon valvuloplasties, and PDA surgeries.  Individualised treatment and follow – ups will help keep your pet happy and comfortable with their heart problem.

The Cardiology Department has gold standard technology at their disposal, including automated laboratory equipment, digital xray, advanced anaesthesia, CT imaging, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, ECG, ultrasound, and advanced diagnostic and monitoring equipment to give your pet the very best care possible.

The Cardiology Department accepts referrals for all medical and surgical cardiac conditions and diagnostics, including:

  • Investigation and treatment of heart disease
  • Echocardiography
  • Electrocardiography
  • Computed tomography and fluoroscopy
  • Pacemaker insertion
  • Closure of Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRRA)
  • Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)
